The Football Kenya Federation Premier League 2024/25 Matchweek 27 continues on Sunday, April 20, with four mouthwatering clashes scheduled across various venues in the country, including a double-header at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Tusker vs City Stars

The headline clash of the day features Tusker FC hosting Nairobi City Stars at 4:00 PM.

This crucial encounter is expected to draw significant attention as Tusker eyes maximum points to capitalize on the dropped points by Kenya Police and Gor Mahia, who both failed to win their matches on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Ferdinand Omanyala

Currently second on the table with 48 points, the Brewers are keen to leapfrog Police FC—who narrowly lost 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars—and pull four points clear of Gor Mahia, who were held to a thrilling 1-1 draw by Sofapaka in Dandora.

The 12-time Kenyan champions are also striving to stretch their unbeaten league run to 12 matches.

Their last loss dates back to January 11, when they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Shabana FC.

During this impressive streak, they have secured five victories and drawn six times. A win on Sunday would strengthen their pursuit of a 13th league crown.

On the other side, Nairobi City Stars, currently languishing at the bottom of the 18-team table with 24 points from 26 matches, are equally desperate for a lifeline.

With just one win in their last 14 outings (1W, 7D, 6L), Salim Babu’s side is in urgent need of a turnaround.

Three points could potentially lift them to 15th place—should Murang’a SEAL, Bidco United, and FC Talanta stumble in their respective games.

The stakes are high on both ends of the table. Charles Okere’s Tusker will be battling to reclaim the summit, while Simba wa Nairobi fight to ignite their survival hopes in the top flight.

FC Talanta vs Shabana

Elsewhere, at tje Dandora Stadium (3:00 PM), Shabana FC travel to face FC Talanta as they look to recover from their controversial FKF Cup elimination at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz.

Peter Okidi’s men are unbeaten in their last six matches (3W, 3D) and enter the contest on the back of two consecutive victories. Currently sixth with 40 points, a win could catapult them to fourth place.

FC Talanta, meanwhile, will be desperate for all three points as they aim to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Back in Machakos, before the Tusker–City Stars showdown, Bidco United will take on Mathare United at 1:00 PM. In Murang’a, SEAL host Kariobangi Sharks at the SportPesa Arena in another enticing mid-table clash.
