- Sofapaka vs Gor Mahia will kick off at 3:00 PM EAT at Dandora Stadium.
- A win could see Gor Mahia climb to the top of the table as they chase their 22nd top-flight title.
- Gor Mahia are unbeaten in their last 10 matches, while Sofapaka have won three of their last six games.
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will be gunning for nothing short of maximum points this Saturday, April 19th, as they travel to Dandora Stadium to face Sofapaka.
Having missed the opportunity to tighten their grip on the summit after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ulinzi Stars, Kenya Police FC (49 points) now risk being overtaken by K’Ogalo, who trail by just three points (46 points) but boast a superior goal difference.
A victory for Gor would see them ascend to the top of the 2024/25 FKF Premier League table for the first time this season—a position previously dominated by Tusker FC and Kenya Police.

Such a shift would surely sting both clubs, who had hoped to solidify their title credentials during this critical phase of the campaign.
However, with the title race still wide open, Tusker FC remains a formidable contender.
Thus, even if Gor Mahia briefly takes the lead, their stay at the top could be short-lived. The Brewers face bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars on Sunday, and a win would catapult them to 51 points one ahead of Gor Mahia (assuming Gor win their match).
For Gor Mahia, a win on Saturday is essential. A draw or loss could severely hinder their momentum in the title race. Currently 21-time top-flight champions, a victory would significantly bolster their title ambitions.

That said, Batoto Ba Mungu are no pushovers.
Sitting eighth on the table with 37 points, they come into the fixture with renewed confidence after edging Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in their previous outing.
Under the guidance of head coach Ezekiel Akwana, Sofapaka are aiming to extend their unbeaten home run to four matches and clinch their sixth home victory of the season.
Philemon Otieno makes a statement
Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno emphasized the team’s determination during a training session this week.
“Training has been good. We’re preparing thoroughly for the clash against Sofapaka. We are targeting maximum points because the league is taking shape, and we must win this game,” he told the club’s media team.
He also acknowledged the pressure of representing a club with such high expectations:
“Every game at Gor Mahia comes with pressure. The fans, the players—we all know the stakes. We have to win every match.”
