The trio brings a wealth of experience, having proudly represented Kenya at numerous continental tournaments.

Kamaku, a familiar face in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, is one of the country’s most prominent referees on the international stage.

He officiated in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in 2019 (Egypt), 2021 (Cameroon), and 2023 (Cote d’Ivoire). Additionally, he featured in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Brazil.

Gilbert Cheruiyot has also built an impressive resume, participating in the AFCON editions of 2019, 2021, and 2023.

He was also part of the officiating team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Beyond that, Cheruiyot has regularly served as both first and second assistant referee in numerous CAF and FIFA competitions, including qualifiers for the 2022, 2024, and upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cups.

Yiembe reaps big with a double call

Yiembe continues to shine on the global stage, securing two major appointments in a short span.

In addition to his role in the semi-final match, he has been selected among the 117 elite officials appointed by FIFA for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held from 14th June to 13th July 2025 in the United States.

Yiembe is the sole representative from the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region and boasts significant experience.

He was selected as one of the 89 match officials for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games and also officiated the AFCON U-23 final between Egypt and Morocco in 2023.
