- The CAF Confederation Cup is guaranteed to crown a new champion this season after debutants Stellenbosch FC pulled off one of the competition’s greatest upsets by eliminating defending champions Zamalek SC.
The final four teams for the 2024/25 CAF Champions League have been confirmed, and in a historic first for the competition’s modern era, South Africa and Egypt will each have two clubs in the semi-finals, setting the stage for two high-stakes North vs South African showdowns.
The first leg of the semi-finals is scheduled for 18/19 April 2025, with the return fixtures set for 25/26 April 2025.
In a historic feat, Pyramids FC of Egypt clinched their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Despite suffering a 2-0 defeat in their second leg against Morocco’s FAR Rabat, their commanding 4-1 victory in Cairo proved decisive, propelling them through with a 4-3 aggregate score.
They are set to face South African giants Orlando Pirates, who return to the semi-finals for the first time since 2013.

Pirates secured progression with a gritty goalless draw at home against MC Alger, having edged the first leg 1-0 in Algiers.
Record 12-time champions and defending titleholders Al Ahly SC of Egypt remained on course for an unprecedented 13th crown, defeating Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 on aggregate.
They will lock horns with Mamelodi Sundowns, who narrowly overcame Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis 1-0 over two legs rekindling one of African football’s most intense modern rivalries.

Meanwhile, the semi-finalists of the CAF Confederation Cup have also been determined, with title-holders Zamalek SC eliminated in one of the tournament’s most shocking upsets.
Tournament newcomers Stellenbosch FC pulled off a stunning 1-0 win in Cairo to knock out the reigning champions, securing their place in the last four with a 1-0 aggregate triumph.
Joining them in the semi-finals are CS Constantine (Algeria), Simba SC (Tanzania), and RS Berkane (Morocco).
Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC will take on the confident debutants Stellenbosch FC, while RS Berkane, aiming for a third continental title, will face CS Constantine, who are brimming with belief after eliminating former champions USM Alger.
