- Geoffrey Kamworor won the 2025 Rotterdam Marathon in a time of 2:04.33.
- Kamworor missed his personal best of 2:04.23 by just 10 seconds in the event that was staged in difficult conditions.
- Kamworor has struggled a lot in the past two years because of injuries.
Geoffrey Kamworor returned to winning ways on Sunday, April 13 at the 2025 Rotterdam Marathon that was held in the Netherlands.
Kamworor, who has struggled a lot with injuries in recent years, timed his race perfectly to win the Rotterdam Marathon title in 2:04.33.

The time that Kamworor posted in Rotterdam Marathon was 10 seconds slower than his current personal best of 2:04.23 that he set in the 2023 London Marathon where he finished second.

Kamworor took command of the race after the 37 kilometres, opening a considerable gap between himself and his competitors, before comfortably crossing the finishing line.

The 32-year-old runner, who trains with world beaters such as Eliud Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon, received a huge applause from the spectators as he powered towards the finishing line.

Kamworor was followed by the Ethiopian duo of Chala Regasa and Chimdessa Debele, who crossed the finishing line at 2:05.07 and 2:05.26 in that order.
Debele turned on the screw in the final stages of the marathon to outpace Kenya’s Kennedy Kimutai, who settled for fourth in 2:05.27.

The distance between Kimutai and his two countrymen Alex Chesiro Masai and Raphael Kolian was more than two minutes.
Masai, a Mang’u High School alumni, settled for fifth in 2:08.03 while Kolian registered a time of 2:08.55.

Meanwhile, Jackline Cherono broke away from her opponents in the halfway mark and went on to win the women’s title in 2:21.14.
Cherono missed the current Rotterdam Marathon course record of 2:18.58 that was set during the 2012 edition.

Cherono, who has featured in several marathons, was followed by Ethiopian road race runners Aminet Ahmed and Azmera Gebru.
Kamworor will return to Kenya after the Rotterdam Marathon and prepare for his next race which he is yet to announce, while at the same time cheering his teammate and close friend Kipchoge as he gets read for the upcoming 2025 London Marathon that is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27 in England.
