Kenya Cup 2025 final
  • Kabras RFC and Menengai Oilers will face off in the Kenya Cup 2025 final at the Kakamega ASK Showground on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
  • Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM EAT.
  • This is their second Kenya Cup final meeting after 2022 and the Oilers’ second-ever appearance.

The 2024/25 Kenya Cup season reaches its thrilling climax as Kabras Sugar prepares to welcome Menengai Oilers in the Rai Derby on Saturday 12 April 2025 at the Kakamega ASK Showground.

The highly anticipated clash, scheduled for 3:00 PM EAT, will see Kabras relish home advantage after an unblemished regular season, amassing 52 points to top the standings.

This marks their fourth consecutive finals appearance at this venue, having previously hosted in the 2018/19, 2022/23, and 2023/24 seasons.

Kabras’ dominance in Kenyan rugby continues, boasting an astonishing 39-match unbeaten streak in the Kenya Cup since February 2022.

They stormed into the final after a commanding 45-6 triumph over Nondescripts RFC in the semifinals on March 29.

This victory secured their fourth consecutive final appearance—after 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons in which they clinched the title each time.

The Carlos Katywa-coached side has flourished since their promotion to the top tier in the 2014/15 season.

The team has lifted the prestigious trophy four times—in 2016, 2022, 2023, and 2024 and now eyes a historic fifth title.

Meanwhile, the Oilers are enjoying one of their most impressive campaigns, finishing third in the regular season with 47 points.

After overcoming Blak Blad in the playoffs, they displayed remarkable resilience to stun KCB at their home turf, the KCB Sports Club, with a 31-8 semifinal triumph.

While Kabras make their 10th consecutive Kenya Cup final appearance, this will be only the second final for Gibson Weru’s Oilers.

Their first was in 2022, when they fell narrowly to the same Kabras side in a nail-biting 34-28 loss.

The Oilers, promoted to the top flight in 2018, will be chasing their maiden Kenya Cup title.

Gibson Weru vs Carlos Katywa set tone ahead of the showdown

Coach Weru is confident that his charges are ready to break Kabras’ stranglehold on the championship.

We know what’s at stake, and we’re looking forward to putting in a solid performance against a top side like Kabras. They’ve set the standard over the years, but we are here to compete and hopefully secure our first Kenya Cup title. Fans can expect great rugby, because we will give it everything we got,” Weru told KRU Media.

On the other side, Kabras tacticia Carlos Katywa exuded confidence while acknowledging the challenge ahead.

We’ve had a strong season and are proud of the consistency the team has shown so far. Preparations for the final have been going well, and the boys are focused and ready for the challenge ahead. We’re not taking anything for granted, reaching another final is an honor, but the job is not done yet

We have a lot of respect for Menengai Oilers. They’ve been outstanding this season and have proven they can match up against any team as we witnessed during the semis. Saturday’s game will be tough, but we are determined to give our fans a performance worthy of another Kenya Cup title. Expect a physical, tactical, and passionate battle, the kind of rugby the Kenya Cup 2025 final deserves.”
