- Ferdinand Omanyala has confirmed the seven races he will take part in between April and May, 2025.
- Omanyala is expected to represent Kenya in the 2025 World Athletics Relays Championships in Guangzhou, China between Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12.
- Omanyala has also disclosed that he is likely to compete in additional races as the 2025 season goes on.
Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala has announced his races calendar ahead of the upcoming World Athletics Championships.
Omanyala, who has already featured in a couple of events this year, is expected to take part in seven high-profile races including three Diamond League meetings.
The man, who set the current African 100m record of 9.77 seconds in 2021 in Nairobi, will start his April schedule on Saturday, April 12 at the FNB Botswana Grand Prix.

Omanyala to square it with African rivals in Botswana
In Botswana, Omanyala will go head to head with other top runners such as the South African duo of Akani Simbine and Bayanda Wanzala.
After the FNB Botswana Grand Prix, Omanyala will have several days to recover and continue with his training before flying to China for the crunch Xiamen Diamond League that is set to be held on Saturday, April 26.
The 29-year-old will not be the only highly profile Kenyan athlete who will take part in the first Diamond League of the season.
Other stars that are expected to feature in the Xiamen Diamond League include 1500m world record holder Faith Kipyegon and the amazing Beatrice Chebet.
Kipyegon will attack Svetlana Masterkova’s 1000m world record of 2:98.98 that was set in 1996 while Chebet is likely to battle it out in the 5000m race with the likes of Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay.

Omanyala to represent Kenya in World Relays Championship
The two next races for Omanyala will be the Shanghai Diamond League that is slated for Saturday, May 3 and the World Athletics Relays Championships which is planned to be held in Guangzhou, China between Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11.
The Nairobi-based runner will end his May calendar with two more races. These events are the Atlanta City Games, Rabat Diamond League and the Kip Keino Classic.
The Atlanta City Games, which Omanyala competed in last year, will be staged on Saturday, May 17 in the United States, 10 days before the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco.
Meanwhile, the mouthwatering Kip Keino Classic will take place on Saturday, May 31 with the venue expected to be made public in the near future.

Omanyala does not rule out additional races
According to Omanyala, he is expected to feature in more races as the 2025 athletics season goes on.
“Season 2025 is aligning. This is how my race schedule looks in the next couple of weeks. There will be additions as the season progresses,” stated the Friends School Kamusinga alumni.
This is one of the most important seasons for Omanyala especially with the World Athletics Championships coming up.
Omanyala will be looking to win a medal for Kenya in the event that will take place in Tokyo, Japan from Saturday, September 13 to Sunday, September 21.

- Atlanta City Games: Saturday, May 17, 2025.
