- Kenyan veteran Dennis Kimetto is one of the star runners that are expected to compete in the 2025 Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon in Spain on April 12.
- Kimetto will be looking to lower the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon course record of 2:14.30 that was set by his compatriot Eliud Kibet in 2019.
- This will be Kimetto’s second high profile race of the year after the 2025 Dubai Marathon.
Marathon icon Dennis Kimetto is set to take part in the 2025 Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon on April 12.
Kimetto will be aiming to lower the current course record of 2:14.30 that was set by his fellow countryman Eliud Kibet in the 2019 edition.
Besides hunting for a new course record, the 41-year-old will also use the event to build his confidence ahead of future races.
The former Bank of America Chicago Marathon winner will be paced by his compatriot Samson Keiyo in the high profile road race.

However, according to reports, Keiyo and Kimetto have agreed to compete against each other for the title should the former be in a position to challenge.
Dennis Kimetto’s injury struggles
Kimetto has experienced a lot of struggles in recent years including injuries that have made it impossible for him to feature in marathons.
His recent outing came in January this year at the Dubai Marathon where he failed to finish inside the top 10 positions.

Kimetto, who owns a number of apartments in Eldoret City, clocked a time of 2:14.56 in that race.
Besides Kimetto, some of the other runners who have been confirmed for the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon include the Spanish duo of Yesica Mas and Dani Mateo.

Kimetto has had a remarkable career that has seen him win some of the biggest marathons in the world.

Some of Dennis Kimetto’s best performances
He entered his name into record books on September 28, 2014 when he produced a fantastic performance to win the Berlin Marathon title in a course record time of 2:02.57.
His record stood for a few years before it was eventually broken by two-time Olympic Games champion Eliud Kipchoge in 2018 at the same event.
Kipchoge, who will race in the 2025 London Marathon on Sunday, April 27, clocked a time of 2:01.09 on that fateful day.
Apart from winning the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Berlin Marathon titles, Kimetto has also triumphed in the Tokyo Marathon, RAK Half Marathon, and Nairobi Half Marathon in the past.
