Alfie Haaland was born in Stavanger, Norway on November 23, 1972. The man who was raised in Bryne met his wife Gry Marita Braut in the 1990s while playing professionally in England.
Haaland and Braut, who is a former Norwegian heptathlon champion, got married and were blessed with three children.
Their first born Astor works in the finance sector while Gabrielle and Erling ventured into the medical and football careers respectively.

Haaland started his football career at a local club in his hometown of Bryne in the late 1970s.
He went on to represent Norway in the U17 category in 1990 where he made only a single appearance before being promoted to the U20 side the following year.
The player, who operated predominantly as a midfielder, played for Norway’s U20 team between 1991 and 1993 where he made a total of 29 appearances and managed to score a couple of goals.
Haaland’s dream of donning Norway’s national team colors came through in 1994 where he made his debut in a friendly encounter against South American nation Costa Rica. He was included in Norway’s squad for the 1994 FIFA World Cup later that year.
The versatile player featured in two matches (against Italy and Mexico) in the global showpiece that was staged in the United States. After making over 30 appearances for Norway, Haaland hung his national team boots in 2001.
