Kabras Sugar RFC earned a home semifinal advantage after extending their impressive run with a 14-20 victory against Menengai Oilers in the Kenya Cup Week 10 match held at the ASK Grounds in Nakuru on Saturday evening.
Additionally, the Millers stretched their winning streak to 38 matches, with their last defeat dating back to February 2022.
This victory also extended their head-to-head dominance over the Oilers to eight consecutive matches.
Menengai Oilers, who were hoping to recover from their previous defeat against KCB, struck first with a try from Samuel Mwaura followed by a penalty from Timothy Omela, putting them ahead 8-0.

However, the visitors soon reduced the gap to just five points after Ntabeni Dukisa successfully converted a penalty, making the score 8-3.
Not long after, Brian Tanga, with a surge of energy, leveled the score with an excellent try and Dukisa added the conversion, giving Kabras a 8-10 lead.
Despite some errors from Kabras, the Oilers were awarded two consecutive penalties, both of which Omela converted, enabling the home team to regain the lead at 14-10.
Nevertheless, Kabras were awarded a penalty shortly before the break, which was successfully converted, allowing them to head into halftime with a narrow 14-13 advantage.
The second half was tightly contested as both teams fought to extend their lead. Ultimately, it was Dukisa who made the decisive contribution, scoring a crucial converted try that propelled Kabras to a 14-20 lead.
Although they failed to secure a bonus point for the second consecutive weekend, Kabras, sitting second with 48 points, will have the advantage of hosting a home semifinal.
On the other hand, after enduring their second consecutive loss, the Oilers now face the challenge of playing in the playoffs to secure a spot in the semifinals, currently sitting third with 42 points.
Meanwhile, log leaders KCB Rugby also clinched a home semifinal berth after defeating Impala RFC 69-9 at the Ruaraka Sports Club. KCB remain unbeaten in their 10 matches this season, achieving a perfect 50-point mark and securing 10 bonus points.
Impala, with three wins and seven losses, are in seventh place with 15 points. They will aim for a strong finish in their upcoming match against Nakuru Rugby.
In another match played in Nakuru, the hosts Nakuru RFC claimed a vital 32-27 victory over Mwamba RFC. In the University derby at Kenyatta Grounds, KU Blak Blad triumphed over Strathmore Leos 39-31.
