As stated by Kemboi, he will be in the race for the athletes’ representative position in the elections that are scheduled to take place on April 24 because he wants to improve the welfare of Kenyan sportspersons.
“I think I want to be a leader, I have been a leader. So, joining the elite at the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) as an athlete’s representative will be a good thing for me and also for the betterment of our athletes.
I will use my experience to perform well so that our athletes can get the best services ever,” he told SportPesa Blog.

The position is currently held by Shujaa icon Humphrey Kayange, who is expected to run for the Secretary General seat in the eagerly anticipated polls.
According to reliable reports, Kayange will compete with the likes of Andrew Mudibo for the prestigious position. Mudibo is the current chairperson of the Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA).
Kemboi on mentoring youngsters
Kemboi further stated that he will continue to nurture young athletes ahead of the World Athletics Championships that is planned to take place in Tokyo, Japan in September.
“My services are always free. I will train the young guys. I am always available 24/7 for the betterment of our athletes, so I will be there to help them achieve their best,” offered the Kapsowar Boys High School alumni.

Meanwhile, Francis Mutuku, who is NOC-K’s Secretary General at the moment, is among a number of people who will be seeking to succeed the current President Paul Tergat. Another key competitor is the Kenya Judo Federation President Shadrack Maluki.
Tergat is set to vacate office since has served for two terms already. The multiple world cross country championships winner was elected unopposed in 2017.
