“The match is like any other match, no difference. We are going to try to win and if we win, they will be happy. We have to win for us, the club and our fans. There is no other option,” stated.

Mihic, who boasts of over two decades of managerial experience, added that he will approach each game at the time from now to the end of the season.

“I don’t care about the gap, I think about the next game and I don’t care about points. We need to win and that is it. I have to think about the team and how we will play. That’s all, and wait and see the outcome at the end of the season,” he explained.

On his part, Mathare United manager John Kamau stated that he is eagerly waiting to play Gor Mahia since facing them has always excited him.

“I have good memories of playing against Gor and this is a match that always motivates me. I am happy, easy and looking forward to the match. Even if the game was brought forward, I am ready, and prepared for Gor anytime,” offered Kamau.

Gor Mahia head into this clash on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 win over the bottom-place side Posta Rangers in a tie that was full of drama.

The Democratic Republic of Congo import Gedeon Bendeka opened the scoring for K’Ogalo in the 73rd minute before Felix Oluoch found an equalizer for the mailmen with five minutes remaining to the end of the regulation time.

As the clock ticked, nearly everyone in the stadium was convinced that the two sides were going to share spoils but the Gor Mahia players did not give up.

Their determination to win the match paid off in the 90+9th minute when Harambee Stars defender Alphonse Omija put his name in the score sheet to give them a 2-1 victory.

On the other hand, Mathare United settled for a 1-1 draw with FC Talanta in their most recent FKFPL fixture. The outcome left them stuck at position 14 in the standings, a few points from the danger zone.

A win for Gor Mahia on Saturday will not only increase their chances of lifting the title at the end of the season but also ensure Mihic as an excellent start to his tenure.
