Harambee Starlet player in action

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has named a 36-member squad to prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 qualifier against Tunisia.

The Starlets will kick off their campaign with the first leg scheduled at home on February 21 before traveling to Tunis for the return match on February 25.

In addition to the experieced local and international players, Odemba has included fresh talent and new faces in the squad to further strengthen the team.

Among the newcomers is the current Football Kenya Federation Women’s National Super League top scorer Faith Mboya from Kibera Soccer Girls.

Since her transfer from Sunderland Samba, the prolific striker has been in superb form, scoring a hat trick in her debut match.

She will be joined by Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens) and Emily Moranga (Kenya Police Bullets) as part of the new attacking lineup.

Notably, KISPED Queens defender Benedete Atieno, Alice Mideri of Vihiga Queens, and Ulinzi Starlets’ Tabitha Amoit have all earned their first senior national team call-ups after impressing at the U-20 level.

In a further boost to the squad, goalkeepers Vivian Shiyonzo of Kibera Soccer Girls and Lavender Abongo from KISPED Queens have made the cut following their standout performances in the top flight this season.

The squad also benefits from the return of Leila Apiyo and Martha Amunyolet after long absences.

Current FKF Women Premier League leading scorers Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens), Rebecca Okwaro (Kenya Police Bullets), and Beverline Adika (Zetech Sparks) have also been included, alongside sensational Simba Queens forward Jentrix Shikangwa, who is currently excelling in Tanzania.

The team is expected to report to camp on Monday, February 10, 2025, to begin preparations for these critical qualifiers.
