The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) heavyweights Gor Mahia FC have appointed Croatian Sinisa Mihic as their new head coach on Monday 3February 2025.

Gor Mahia picked the Croatian to replace Leonardo Neiva who was appointed after Jonathan McKinstry left the club in 2024.

After the departure of Neiva, who struggled to impress, the FKFPL defending champions decided to appoint Zedekiah Otieno on an interim basis.

According to a statement issued by the Gor Mahia FC communication team, Mihic will work alongside two assistant coaches including Otieno.

“We are pleased to announce Sinisa Mihic from Croatia as our new head coach; to be assisted by Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno and Michael Nam,” read a communique from the club.

Reports indicate that the Gor Mahia FC management has given Mihic a six-month probation contract with an option to extend if he improves the club.

Mihic is expected to take charge of his maiden match as the club’s official head coach on Saturday, February 8 against Mathare United.

A victory for Mihic in the eagerly anticipated match will increase their chances of defending their FKFPL title.

Gor Mahia, whose first leg fixture against arch-rivals AFC Leopards was postponed, currently occupies the third position in the standings with 31 points, six behind joint leaders Kenya Police and Tusker.

The record Kenyan champions defeated Posta Rangers 2-1 in their latest fixture in a dramatic match that was played at the Dandora Stadium in Nairobi County on Saturday.

Gedeon Bendeka, who hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Alphonce Omija were on the score sheet for K’Ogalo while Felix Oluoch scored Posta Rangers’ goal.
