Moses Shumah’s goal in the 79th minute aimed to change the course of the game on Sunday afternoon, but the linesman flagged it offside, as Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz settled for a 0-0 draw at the Mumia Complex in Kakamega County.
However, Homeboyz extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches, moving into ninth place on the standings with 23 points.
On the other hand, the performance of Zico’s side was noticeable as they were missing key players like Austin Odhiambo.
Despite the draw, Gor Mahia remains in third place on the table with 28 points, level with KCB but ahead on goal difference.
In the 10th minute, Glen Masava’s shot went wide, marking their first attempt at a goal, though they were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

Ten minutes later, Homeboyz’s Pius Wangi made a strike from outside the box on the left wing, but Kevin Omondi punched the ball out that struck the woodwork to deny them a leading goal.
In the 39th minute, Homeboyz earned a free kick, and Estone Omengo stepped up, but Brian Eshihanda missed a close-range header that could have given them the lead.
Three minutes later, K’Ogalo attempted to break through, but Homeboyz’s defense held firm to deny them a shot on goal.
The hosts were relentless in their pursuit, but their last-minute attempt from a throw-in, which could have resulted in an own goal by Gedeon Bendeka, was cleared off the line as both teams ended the first half in a cagey 0-0 deadlock.

In the second half, Glen Masava had a dangerous attempt in the 46th minute, but his shot narrowly missed the post and went out, keeping the match tense.
A well-delivered corner kick by Estone Omengo was begging for a tap-in from either Moses Shumah or Brian Eshihanda, as Kevin Omondi had already left his goal, but the ball went out for a goal kick.

Andreas Odhimbo broke the deadlock for Sharks, but Antony Akhulia’s side equalized with Jacob Onyango’s goal in the second half.
Meanwhile, at Awendo Stadium, Police FC triumphed over Mara Sugar 1-0 to reclaim the top spot on the table.
In-form Clinton Kinanga once again proved to be the match-winner for Etienne Ndarayijige’s side, scoring the decisive goal in the dying minutes.
With Police FC tied on points with Tusker, they sit atop the table thanks to a superior goal difference.
