Gor Mahia Midfielder Enock Morrison

Gor Mahia midfielder Enock Morrison has acknowledged that the first leg of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League 24/25 did not meet their expectations as the club.

However, he remains optimistic that when the team enters the second leg, they will regain their momentum and defend their championship title with confidence.

Gor Mahia made a strong return to winning ways with an impressive 2-0 victory over Sofapaka on Wednesday, January 22, in their rescheduled match at the Kenyatta Stadium, coming off a 2-1 loss to Tusker FC in their previous encounter.

This season has been challenging for Gor Mahia, with their performance at a low point.

They currently sit in fourth place with 27 points from 16 matches, having secured eight wins, three draws, and five losses.

This contrasts with last season’s record, where they amassed 34 points from nine wins and seven draws.

After assisting in the two goals scored by Geoffrey Ochieng and Sharrif Musa, Ghanaian Enock Morrison emphasized that, at this moment, securing wins is more important than the quality of performance.

“I’m really proud today. Every win matters to us, because that’s what counts right now. We are not concerned with performance or style of play – we are just thrilled to secured the three points at the moment,” he told Sportpesa Blog.

Morrison also spoke about his dominant form, stating that the people of Kenya and Gor Mahia fans are well aware of his capabilities. He is determined to showcase his talents whenever the opportunity arises.

“I feel great, and I thank God. I believe everyone in Kenya knows what I’m capable of, and I’m focused on demonstrating my skills when given the chance,” he added.

The former Asante Kotoko player further acknowledged that the team’s performance in the first leg did not align with their ambitions.

Despite the setbacks, he is confident they will recover and anticipates a strong comeback in the second leg.

“The results from the first leg weren’t what we hoped for; we’ve faced numerous challenges. But we’ll bounce back,” he said.

“That’s the essence of a big club – when you hit a low, you rise again, stronger than ever. And that’s why we are a big club.”

He also expressed confidence in the collective efforts of the players and technical staff, believing they will help the club regain its former glory.

“I have complete faith in myself, my teammates, and the coaching staff. I’m certain they will continue to do a great job, and we will come back stronger,” he continued.

“What we need now is the support of everyone – we need the fans to back us. With their support, we’re confident we’ll defend our title successfully.”
