AFCON 2025 Draw

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 groups have been confirmed, with the tournament set to kick off on Sunday, 21 December, culminating on 18 January 2026 in Morocco.

The draw was conducted at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday evening, 27 January 2025, with African legends Mustapha Hadji, Serge Aurier, Aliou Cissé, and Joseph Yobo serving as assistants.

The prestigious ceremony saw 24 qualified teams from the continent drawn into six groups, each consisting of four teams.

It was embraced by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe, alongside other African football legends such as Essam El Hadary, the legendary goalkeeper from Egypt, Cameroon’s Patrick Mboma, Tunisia’s Aymen Mathlouthi, and coaches from various countries.

Morocco, the host nation, was seeded in Group A, alongside Comoros, 2012 champions Zambia, and Mali.

In Group B, seven-time champions Egypt will be joined by 2023 quarterfinalist Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire have been placed in Group F, alongside five-time champions Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.

Nigeria, another powerhouse with three titles and 2023 runners-up, is in Group C, alongside 2004 champions Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania, who will represent East Africa.

2021 champions Senegal will face two-time champions DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana in Group D.

Group E will consist of two-time champions Algeria, one-time champions Sudan, Burkina Faso, and Equatorial Guinea.

CAF and the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football have announced the six cities that will host the tournament in Morocco: Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes, and Tangier, with nine stadiums approved to host matches.
