In a surprising turn of events, Nicholas Muyoti has resigned from his position as head coach of Nairobi City Stars the club has confirmed.
“Nairobi City Stars wishes to announce that, following a formal request, Nicholas Muyoti has stepped down from his role as head coach. It has been a remarkable journey and it’s unfortunate to see you depart. All the best gaffer,” the club’s statement on X read.
However, the club has not yet disclosed the specific reasons behind Muyoti’s decision to step down.
Muyoti’s departure follows a series of disappointing results, with the team failing to secure a win in their last five matches. They kicked off the year with a disheartening 2-1 defeat to Posta Rangers on Saturday, 11th January, at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Muyoti joined Simba wa Nairobi in September 2021 in a three-year deal, succeeding Sanjin Alagić who left after his contract expired.

The former Nzoia Sugar head coach leaves the Kawagware-based club sitting just three spots above the relegation zone in the 18-team Kenyan top flight.
This season, Nairobi City Stars has won only four of their 16 matches, drawing four and losing eight.
In their most recent match against Posta Rangers, Simba wa Nairobi struck first with a goal from Vincent Owino in the fourth minute. However, Posta Rangers capitalized on a defensive error by the City Stars, and Oliver Maloba equalized in the 28th minute.
After a thrilling first half, both teams were level at 1-1.

The second half mirrored the first, but in the 65th minute, Muyoti made four substitutions, bringing on Andre Kalama, Kelvin Etemesi, Elvis Noor, and Robinson Asenwa in place of Yuto Kusaba, Gilbert Abala, Rowland Makati, and Clifford Ouma.
Despite the changes, the team failed to capitalize on the momentum, and in stoppage time, Posta Rangers took the lead through Lewis Shivachi. The hosts held on to secure a 2-1 victory, claiming all three points.
