Kenyan road race runners have conquered the 2024 Bangsaen21 Half Marathon edition in a spectacular fashion.

More than six of them finished inside the top 10 positions in the World Athletics Platinum label race that was staged in Thailand.

Winfridah Moraa Moseti led her fellow East Africans to a clean podium finish in the women’s category which had several big names from the region.

Moseti switched on the gears in the final phases of the race and went on to cut the tape in an impressive time of 1:10.01.

The athlete, who hails from Kisii County, was followed by Uganda’s Rebecca Chelangat and Rosemary Wanjiru of Kenya. Chelangat crossed the finishing line in 1:10:34 while Wanjiru clocked 1:10:53. 

The fourth and fifth place positions went to the Kenyan duo of Gladys Chepkurui and Antonina Kwambai, who managed a time of 1:11:11 and 1:12:01 respectively.

In the men’s category, Ethiopia’s Nibret Melak escaped with the title after slightly edging out the Kenyan duo of Alexander Mutiso Munyao and Geofry Toroitich Kipchumba.

Melak crossed the finishing line in 1:02:32, two seconds ahead of Mutiso, who had a remarkable 2024 season that saw him win the London Marathon title and represent Kenya in the Paris Olympic Games.

On the other hand Kipchumba registered a time of 1:02:36 to beat Ethiopia’s Leul Gebresilasie (1:02:39) and Justus Kangogo (1:03:55).
