Kakamega Homeboyz will host AFC Leopards on Saturday in the season’s first Ingo Derby at the Mumias Complex in Kakamega County.
The match, scheduled to kick off at 2:00 PM, is not only about securing three points but also asserting regional rivalry supremacy.
AFC Leopards will be looking to build on their impressive 1-0 victory over Police FC last Sunday, secured by a late strike from Kennedy Owino. The win was crucial, ending a five-match winless run for Ingwe.
Under Fred Ambani, who is now in his second match as Interim coach after club parted ways with Thomas Trucha, Leopards are aiming to secure their second away win of the season and break their four-match winless streak on the road.

Their last away victory came in September when they triumphed 1-0 over Bidco United at Thika Municipal Stadium. Prior to that, Ingwe had secured a 4-0 win over Mathare United in their opening league match of the season.
However, their subsequent away form has been inconsistent, with a 1-1 draw against Kariobangi Sharks at Kenyatta Stadium, followed by a 1-0 loss to Murang’a Seals at the SportPesa Arena.
They were then beaten 2-0 by Ulinzi Stars at Kinoru Stadium, and most recently, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Shabana at Gusii Stadium. After 10 matches, with one game in hand, AFC Leopards sit in seventh place with 14 points, having won four, drawn two, and lost four.
Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz, who are eager to secure their fourth win of the season, have lost just one match at home this campaign. That defeat came at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks, who won 1-0 at the Mumias Stadium.

However, Homeboyz quickly bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Nairobi City Stars, followed by a 0-0 draw with Bandari FC at the same venue. Last weekend, Francis Baraza’s side sealed a 2-0 win over Shabana, continuing their strong home form.
With 12 points from three wins, three draws, and five losses, they currently sit in 11th place and will be targeting a vital three points to climb the standings.
In their last five encounters, AFC Leopards have won once, while Kakamega Homeboyz have emerged victorious on two occasions, with the teams sharing the spoils twice.
Last season, Leopards won 2-0 in the first leg, while the second leg ended in a goalless draw. Notably, Ingwe have yet to defeat Homeboyz at the Mumias Stadium in their last six fixture.
