Driftwood 7s

The 35th edition of the Driftwood 7s taking place at the Mombasa Sports Club will have a new champion.

This is after KCB RFC extended their perfect run in the 2024 tournament marking the penultimate outing of the SportPesa National 7s Circuit as they overcame perennial rivals and tournament defending champions Kabras Sugar 15-0 to book their spot in the main cup final.

The bankers, who came into the fifth leg fresh from lifting the Kabeberi 7s, got the job done with tries from Jacob Ojee, Samuel Asati and Brian Wahinya.

In another match, current circuit leaders Kenya Harlequin battled to another main cup final as they beat Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.

In a match that the deadlock remained intact late into the second enough, Amon Wamalwa’s solitary try won the game for Quins who booked their return to the main cup final for the first time since their back-to-back appearances in the Christie 7s and Kakamega 7s.
