It was bitter-sweet for Maina Mwangi as he expressed his disappointment after missing out on one game in the recently concluded SportPesa Mega Jackpot.

Maina, a businessman, was fortunate enough to correctly predict 16 out of 17 games, earning a hefty KSH 5,104,449 in prize money.

In addition to that, lightning struck twice for Maina as his other slip saw him manage an impressive 11 out of 13 to win an extra KSH 64,365.

Maina, an ardent supporter of Chelsea, proceeded by describing how he placed three bets on the Mega Jackpot and was fortunate enough to win two of them.

“After the Mega Jackpot games were over, I wasn’t keeping track of the games but hadn’t slept. It was around 1am and the congratulations messages from 79079 caught me off-guard.

“My wife initially thought the messages were a hoax so we did not believe it. The next day, we received a phone call from SportPesa, and that’s when it dawned on us that indeed I had joined the Club of Millionaires.” Maina said.

Gordon Ogada remains the highest football jackpot winner in Kenya after his KSHs 230,742,881 victory and he was followed by Cosmas Korir months later, who bagged KSHs 208,733,619.

Since there has not been a winner, the progressive jackpot has now hit unbelievable heights of KSH 306,310,331.

The 39 year old has plans to purchase land and build a house for his family, buy a car and expand his business.

“I thank God for the money I have won and I plan to expand my my water business and this will in turn provide more income for me and my family.

“Since the Mega Jackpot is still accessible, I can’t give up trying. Who knows, I came so close to winning it; I might end up taking home the entire prize,” he said.

It only costs KSHs 99 to place your bet on this week’s Mega Jackpot and you could stand the chance to become the biggest football jackpot winner in the country.
