After both losing their opening games at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Cameroon and Serbia battle it out in an important tie on Monday afternoon.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon return to the FIFA World Cup desperate for an opening game victory against Switzerland on Thursday.

The Swiss were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in the round of 16 after losing 1-0 to Sweden, while Cameroon never qualified.

Though, Cameroon did finish third at the recent African Cup of Nations and are set for a return to the biggest international stage.

Cameroon have struggled for form since their AFCON run, winning just one of their last 5, with that victory coming against 141st-ranked Burundi.

The African side are also the fourth-lowest ranked team at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup and face a tough opponent in the Swiss.

Switzerland went undefeated in their eight qualification games and finished atop the group table with 18 points.

Their most recent match before the finals ended in a 2-0 friendly defeat against Ghana.

Switzerland also went unbeaten in the group stages of the 2018 World Cup and will be looking to replicate that this year, with Brazil and Serbia also in the group.

Cameroon have been knocked out of the group stages in their last five World Cup appearances and will hope for better luck this time around.
