Denmark and Portugal will battle it out in a potentially mouthwatering UEFA Nations League Group 4 encounter on Thursday with qualification at stake for both sides.

The defending champions Portugal are top of the Group with six points after wins against Wales and Norway, as they look to make it a perfect group phase with a win here.

Denmark on the other hand have three points and are in third place, following a narrow defeat against Norway before beating Wales 2-0.

Jorge Jesus has made a winning start to his tenure after replacing Roberto Martínez after Portugal’s 2026 World Cup campaign and has immediately inherited a squad containing considerable depth.

Cristiano Ronaldo was unfortunate to see his goal against Wales ruled out, though the 41-year old remains key for Portugal in the remaining matches.

The Portuguese have been superior to their opponents in recent matches, winning four of the last five games played against them.

Do the Danes have enough to make this game count to muster a win here? We have a look at both sides ahead of kick off and offer our predicted outcome.

Denmark vs Portugal team news

Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Højlund were both on target in the defeat to Norway and will both definitely be part of the starting XI here.

Gustav Isaksen scored one of the goals in the win against Wales and will start as well, alongside Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Morten Hjulmand.

Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu will be included in the starting XI, in the only change expected from the hosts.

As for portugal, whether Ronaldo will start remains the biggest question after coming off the bench in the win against Norway.

Goncalo Ramos bagged a brace in the victory and will retain his place in the starting XI, as well as Al Nassr’s Joao Felix.

Vitinha was on the bench against Norway and he is expected to start here as well as Real Madrid’s Bernardo Silva.

Denmark vs Portugal prediction

Denmark’s opening Nations League match produced five goals, while their second match against Wales produced two. Portugal’s first two matches have been lower-scoring, with victories of 1-0 and 2-1.

This could make goals a better market than picking an outright winner, however, Portugal’s recent success against Denmark could give them an edge.
