The 2026/27 FKF Women’s Premier League campaign kicked off in dramatic fashion across the weekend as six opening-round fixtures played out.
The season’s first goal arrived in the 20th minute at the Kasarani Annex, where Josephine Werenga put four-time champions Vihiga Queens ahead against Mathare United.
However, the opening match belonged to Mathare United, who mounted a thrilling comeback to defeat Vihiga Queens 3-1, inspired by debutant Mitchelle Waithera, who came off the bench to bag a brilliant brace alongside Sylvia Otieno’s strike.
Over in Homa Bay, last season’s runners-up Ulinzi Starlets opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Gideon Starlets, breaking down the hosts with two quick-fire second-half goals from Shaline Nambengele in the 61st minute and Siliya Rasoha in the 63rd minute.

Meanwhile in Nakuru, hosts Trinity Starlets succumbed to a painful stoppage-time loss as Noel Amutata struck a 93rd-minute winner to earn Kibera Soccer Women a dramatic 1-0 away win.
Defending champions Kenya Police Bullets wrapped up Day 1 in commanding fashion at the Police Sacco Stadium, routing Bungoma Queens 6-0 thanks to braces from Faith Mboya and Airin Madalina, with Terry Engesha and Lorna Nyarinda adding one apiece.
Day 2 commenced at the Ndura Complex in Kitale, where league newbies Elim White Ladies fell 3-1 to Zetech Sparks. Monica Nyakoa netted a double for the visitors before Monica Nekesa pulled one back for Elim, but Engin Lindah sealed the three points for Zetech with a stoppage-time strike.

The weekend concluded with a four-goal thriller at Dandora Stadium between hosts Kayole Starlets and debutants Shabana Starlets.
Magneta Ocharo put Kayole ahead before Sylvia Ondiba equalized for Shabana from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime.
Charity Wanjala restored Kayole’s lead in the second half, but a late effort from substitute Daphene Kwamboka was turned into Kayole’s net by their own defense, forcing a 2-2 draw to share the spoils.
With Gameweek 1 complete, Police Bullets lead the 12-team standings on superior goal difference, followed closely by Mathare United, Zetech Sparks, Ulinzi Starlets, and Kibera Soccer Women on three points each.
