The chance for a first win of the Premier League of the season is at stake as Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

Both clubs have endured a difficult opening to the 2026/27 season, leaving them languishing at the bottom of the table.

Spurs have not managed to score a single goal from their opening four games, conceding five in that duration. They are currently 17th with two points.

They welcome a Villa side who are coming off a 2-1 home defeat to Nottingham and they are second from last with only one point to their name.

That lack of goals is a major concern for the hosts, and they need to convert chances into goals to relieve pressure on the defence and give themselves a platform to win matches.

Spurs lost 3-1 to Liverpool in midweek, sending them crashing out of the League Cup.

Meanwhile, Villa got a confidence boost with a 3-1 away victory against newly promoted Coventry to book a place in the next round of the League Cup.

Which of these two sides will get their first win of the season here, or will it be yet another stalemate? Here is our prediction for the match.

The home team will be without Sandro Tonali and Pedro Porro who are ruled out through injury, though they have enough depth to replace them.

Mattheus Fernandes and Rodrigo Bentancur will continue their partnership in the midfield, with Mohamed Kudus starting as well.

Mathys Tel has been far from impressive and may have to settle for a place on the bench as Richarlison starts up front.

Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest lineups
John McGinn captains Aston Villa, with Nicolas Jackson starting as the central forward against Nottingham Forest.

For the visitors, Nicholas Jackson has not found the back of the net since joining Villa but he may retain his place in the starting XI.

Tammy Abraham was on target in midweek and could partner with the Senegalese forward up front.

Pau Torres was subbed off injured in the last PL game and will be replaced by Tyrone Mings in the only change expected from the visitors.
