Manchester United face newly-promoted Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday in their opening fixture of the 2026–27 Premier League season.

Head coach Michael Carrick faces several selection decisions for this league opener as he manages pre-season workloads and early-season squad integration from the new signings.

Manchester United enter the match following a busy pre-season schedule. Carrick is without defender Matthijs de Ligt a long term absentee with young prospect Ayden Heaven expected to partner Harry Maguire in central defense ahead of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, flanked by Diogo Dalot at right-back and Luke Shaw at left-back.

In midfield, summer signings Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos are both tipped to make their competitive club debuts in a double-pivot, easing the early-season minutes of Mason Mount following his minor knock against Paris Saint-Germain in pre-season.

Captain Bruno Fernandes will direct operations as the central playmaker, supporting an attacking trio of Amad Diallo on the right wing, Matheus Cunha on the left wing, and Bryan Mbeumo operating as the central forward.

Mbeumo leads the attack while Benjamin Šeško continues his step-up in match fitness following his return to full training.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford returns to the Manchester United matchday fold following the conclusion of his season-long loan spell at Barcelona, where he notched 14 goals and 14 assists while claiming the La Liga title.

After the Catalan club opted against triggering their £26 million buy-option and an extended post-World Cup break, the 28-year-old forward has trained under Michael Carrick and is in contention to start from the bench at the MKM Stadium.
