KCB Rugby are the 2026 Prinsloo 7s champions after edging perennial rivals Kabras Sugar 19-12 in the Main Cup final on Sunday evening in Nakuru, clinching the title with an unbeaten record.
The Bankers are the new champions of the opening leg of the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, succeeding Strathmore Leos, who won the title in 2025 but failed to defend it after crashing out in the group stage.
Having reached all six finals in last season’s SportPesa 7s, KCB were eager to carry that momentum into the new campaign as they began their quest to retain the overall circuit title.
On Saturday, they comfortably topped Pool C without tasting defeat before overcoming hosts Nakuru RFC in the quarterfinals. They then brushed aside Kenya Harlequins in the Cup semifinals to book a place in the final.

Kabras Sugar enjoyed a similarly impressive run, finishing top of Pool A unbeaten.
They thrashed Daystar Falcons in the quarterfinals before edging Nondescripts in the semifinals to set up a mouthwatering clash against the reigning champions.
It was actually Kabras who struck first, straight from the kick-off. Michael Lukusi, right at the restart, saw the ball fall into his hands after George Ooro failed to gather it cleanly.
Lukusi then surged down the left wing, outpacing Brian Wahinya, and handed his side a five-point lead with a missed conversion.
KCB responded almost immediately with a converted try to swing the momentum.
Ooro made amends after receiving a well-timed pass from Elvis Olukusi deep inside the 22, powering through the Kabras defence to score.
Wahinya added the extras as the Bankers capitalized on Kabras being reduced to six men after Jackson Siketi was sent to the sin bin for an infringement.
The Bankers continued to pile on the pressure and soon crossed again following a brilliant end-to-end move that started inside the Kabras 22. Olukusi finished off the attack to extend the lead to 12-5.
Kabras’ woes worsened moments later when a misplaced pass was intercepted by Vincent Onyala who raced away untouched for an easy try. Wahinya converted to hand KCB a commanding 19-5 advantage heading into the halftime break.
Kabras came out strongly after the restart and reduced the deficit almost immediately. Brian Mutua spotted a gap in the KCB defence and burst through to score, with the successful conversion cutting the margin to 19-12.
Despite Kabras’ early second-half pressure, clear-cut chances were few and far between as KCB’s resolute defence stood firm.
The Bankers comfortably saw out the contest to lift the first leg of the six-stop SportPesa National Sevens Circuit.
