K’Ogalo arrived early in Rwanda to fine-tune their preparations which got off to a bumpy start following a 2-0 defeat against local giants Rayon Sports during the annual Rayon Day exhibition showcase at the Kigali Pelé Stadium.

The stakes are incredibly high under the tournament’s unforgiving format. With 12 teams divided into three groups of four, only the three group winners and the single best runner-up across the entire competition will advance directly to the semi-finals.

Gor will kick off their campaign on Friday, July 24, when they lock horns with tournament hosts and Rwandan giants APR FC at the Amahoro Stadium renewing a fierce rivalry from 2020 when K’Ogalo overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit in Kigali with a 3-1 stoppage-time comeback victory in Nairobi to advance 4-3 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Following the opener, K’Ogalo will return to the pitch on Monday, July 27 to battle Ugandan heavyweights Vipers SC in a tie that could decide the ultimate trajectory of Group A.
Gor Mahia will then wrap up their group stage assignment on Thursday, July 30, 2026, facing off against Djiboutian outfit FC Garde Républicaine in their final push for a place in the knockout rounds.
Kenya’s second representatives, Tusker FC, who entered the competition as late replacements following the sudden withdrawal of Sudanese giants Al Merreikh, have been thrown directly into baptism of fire in Kigali.
Under the guidance of head coach Julien Mette, the FKF Cup winners will open their regional campaign against tournament favorites Al Hilal of Sudan on Sunday, July 26, before taking on hosts Rayon Sports and Zanzibar’s KVZ SC in their subsequent pool fixtures.
