Nairobi United officially brought the curtain down on a historic, groundbreaking 2025/26 campaign on Thursday evening, hosting a glamourous end-of-season awards gala to celebrate the club’s top performers.
The event, presided over by club patron and Nairobi City County Governor Johnson Sakaja, honored a squad that defied all expectations during an unprecedented debut season in both the SportPesa League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Machaka was named the Overall Player of the Season after delivering masterful performances in the midfield all year long.
In a beautiful show of respect, Machaka also won the Players’ Player of the Season award, which is voted on exclusively by his teammates to recognize his leadership and dedication inside the dressing room.
Right alongside him in the spotlight was young winger Dancan Omalla, who also took home two major accolades. The teenage sensation was named the Young Player of the Season and received the Golden Boot for finishing the year as the club’s top goalscorer.
The fans also had their say during the gala, choosing mid-season signing Kevin Wangaya as the Fans’ Player of the Season. Wangaya joined the club in the mid season transfer window under coach Godfrey Oduor and instantly became a crowd favorite by scoring a spectacular free-kick on his debut against Bidco United.
His brilliant form also earned him the SportPesa League Player of the Month award for April after he recorded three goals and three assists in five matches.
Another massive success story belonged to Kevin Otiende, who was named the Defender of the Season after a rock-solid year that earned him his very first call-up to the Harambee Stars national team.

The night concluded by honoring young defender Kepha Aswani who won the Most Disciplined Player award for his exemplary conduct and consistency after joining the club from the grassroots Sakaja Super Cup side Kawasaki.
Finally, Lesley Otieno was named the Most Improved Player for showing immense progress throughout the long campaign.
