Record Africa Cup of Nations Champions Egypt have named their squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup as head coach Hossam Hassan prepares to lead the Pharaohs into the global tournament with high expectations of making a deep run.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will captain the side in what will be his milestone third World Cup appearance.
The legendary forward, who recently sent shockwaves through the footballing world by officially announcing he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season to bring a decorated nine-year Anfield career to a close, remains the undisputed talisman for his country.

Alongside him, Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush and Al Ahly’s Mahmoud Trezeguet will headline the attacking unit looking to ignite the tournament in North America.
Hassan’s men will wrap up their tournament preparations with a warm-up match against Brazil on June 7 before traveling to their official tournament base camp on the West Coast.
In the goalkeeping department, veteran Mohamed El Shennawy is selected alongside the impressive Mostafa Shobeir, El Mahdy Soliman, and Mohamed Alaa and will force off in a fierce competition for the number one spot between the sticks.
The Pharaohs who are placed in Group G will kick off their tournament on Monday, June 15, against Belgium at Lumen Field in Seattle, USA, before crossing the border to Canada to face New Zealand on Monday, June 22, at BC Place in Vancouver. Finally, Hassan’s men will return to Seattle’s Lumen Field on Saturday, June 27, to wrap up their initial group fixtures with a clash against Iran.
