Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has officially unveiled his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo set to feature in what is expected to be his final appearance at football’s biggest tournament.
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr striker once again headlines a star-studded Portuguese squad as the 2016 European champions aim to win the World Cup title for the first time in their history.
Portugal head into the tournament as one of the favourites after assembling a balanced team filled with experienced stars and exciting young talent.

They will be hoping to erase the painful memories of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Morocco despite entering the tournament with huge expectations.
Roberto Martinez now has another opportunity to guide the Seleção to global glory as the tournament heads to North America.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains the face of Portuguese football despite his age, and his inclusion comes after another impressive season in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.
The veteran striker will provide leadership and experience in attack alongside a dangerous supporting cast that includes Rafael Leao, Pedro Neto, Goncalo Ramos and Joao Felix.

In midfield, Portugal boast one of the strongest units at the tournament. Bruno Fernandes enters the World Cup after a sensational campaign with Manchester United, where he captained the side back to UEFA Champions League qualification.
Fernandes is also on the verge of breaking the Premier League assists record for a single season and is among the frontrunners for the EPL Player of the Season award.
Alongside him are experienced playmaker Bernardo Silva and the highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain duo of Joao Neves and Vitinha, who have both developed into key figures for club and country. Ruben Neves and Samu Costa add further depth and balance in midfield.
Defensively, Portugal possess a blend of experience and youthful energy. Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Diogo Dalot and Nuno Mendes are expected to lead the backline, while young defenders Tomas Araujo and Renato Veiga could also play important roles during the tournament.
In goal, Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa is expected to retain his position as Portugal’s first-choice goalkeeper after consistently impressing for both club and country.
Portugal have been drawn in Group F, where they will face DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia during the group stage. Their opening two matches against DR Congo and Uzbekistan will be played in Houston before they travel to Miami to face Colombia in their final group fixture.
