Gor Mahia’s 22nd SportPesa League title chase gets mega cash boost
In addition to the five million promised by Rachier, this season- marking the first campaign under the main sponsorship of the leading online gaming firm SportPesa, the winner will leap big, with the champion set to receive a total of 15 million courtesy of FKF and SportPesa.
Gor are just one match away from reclaiming the SportPesa League crown, with two games left to play.
On Sunday, the Charles Akonnor-led charges managed to thrash Murang’a SEAL 3-1 in an away fixture played at Nyayo Stadium, where the emphatic victory ensured they stretched the title race gap to four points against their rivals AFC Leopards in second place.
Heading into the final stretch of the season, Gor sit at the top of the table with 68 points, while their closest challengers, Ingwe, come second on 64 points.
They have two games remaining; against Mara Sugar on Sunday, May 24, and then they wrap up the season with a clash against Nairobi United.

But the trophy could come as early as this Sunday if they beat Mara Sugar to avoid any late complications.
Thus, Gor who have not lost to Mara in their last three encounters since the Sugar Millers were promoted last season, will be throwing everything at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay to ensure they seal it early enough.
Any kind of slip-up against Mara Sugar -if they lose or get held, and AFC Leopards manage to beat APS Bomet in the penultimate fixture, then the league will be decided on the final matchday.
