AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani is holding onto a strong belief, as he has refused to throw in the towel on the SportPesa League title, stating they still have a genuine shot at winning it.
Ambani’s bold declaration about ending the club’s wait for a first league title in over two decades comes after Ingwe returned to winning ways with consecutive victories against Mara Sugar and a 2-0 triumph over Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday in a rescheduled fixture at Nyayo Stadium.
Speaking after the win over Ulinzi Stars, Ambani maintained that Ingwe are still firmly in the title hunt.
He revealed that the team is treating each of the remaining three fixtures like a final and hopes their hard work this season will ultimately pay off.
“I still believe we have a chance, and I know in God’s faith we have got an opportunity to grab the title, because this season we have been playing well. We have treated every game as a final, and you never know what God has in store for us or how He wants things to go, but I know He wants it to turn out the way we hope,” Ambani stated.

Goals from Kelly Madada and Emmanuel Lwangu ensured the 12-time SportPesa League champions closed the gap against their rivals Gor Mahia to just four points, sitting second on 61 points, while Gor lead the pack with 65.
And on Saturday, May 16, Leopards have a chance to make it a one-point title race when they travel to Kakamega County to face Kakamega Homeboyz at Mumias Complex, which will be a tight affair dubbed the Ingo Derby.

Ambani believes that despite limited preparation days, they are going all out to secure the three points, which would put them in a stronger position as the league goes down to the wire.
“It’s a derby again, and we will be going all in for it to ensure we at least get the three points. We are not going to do a lot in training because we only have two days of prep, but we will have to adjust our style of play to compete at Mumias Complex.
I think we are equally up to the challenge, and despite the fatigue, we are heading to Kakamega for the three points,” he said.

After the Homeboyz clash, Ingwe will take on APS Bomet, while they wrap up the season with a battle against Bidco United.
For everything to fall into place in the title race, they must win all their matches and hope Gor at least draw one and lose another.
