Barcelona vs Real Madrid prediction

Barcelona welcome fierce rivals Real Madrid to Camp Nou on Sunday night in a potentially title-defining El Clasico clash, with the Catalan giants needing just a point to officially seal the 2025-26 La Liga crown.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, arrive in Catalunya knowing that anything short of victory would all but confirm Barcelona as champions in what has been a turbulent season for Los Blancos.

Hansi Flick’s side have looked unstoppable in recent months and fully deserve their commanding position at the top of the table. Barcelona have won 10 consecutive league matches and continue to dominate games with their aggressive pressing, quick transitions and fluid attacking football.

Their latest victory, a hard-fought 2-1 result over Osasuna, once again highlighted their mentality in decisive moments. Even with injuries affecting parts of the squad during the campaign, Barcelona have maintained consistency and balance across the pitch.

The Blaugrana have also enjoyed the upper hand in recent Clasicos, winning five of the last six meetings across all competitions. Their 3-2 victory over Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final earlier this year showed their ability to manage high-pressure moments, while their attacking rotations continue to trouble even elite defences.

With Robert Lewandowski back available and Marcus Rashford expected to start, Barcelona possess plenty of firepower going into the clash.

Real Madrid, however, head into the fixture surrounded by tension both on and off the pitch. Reports of dressing room unrest, including the altercation involving Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, have added to an already frustrating campaign.

Los Blancos have struggled for consistency throughout the season, dropping crucial points in games they were expected to control. Their Champions League exit and growing gap behind Barcelona have only intensified pressure around the club.

Despite the chaos, Madrid still carry enough quality to trouble any side in Europe. The return of Kylian Mbappe and Thibaut Courtois is a huge boost, while Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham remain key outlets in transition.

Madrid’s biggest challenge will likely come in midfield, where Barcelona’s intensity and ball circulation could force them into uncomfortable defensive phases for long spells.

What time does Barcelona vs Real Madrid start?

Kick-off is at 10:00 PM (EAT) on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Camp Nou.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid team news

Barcelona will be without teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury. Andreas Christensen has returned to training after recovering from a knee issue, although he may not be risked from the start.

Flick is expected to rely on Pedri and Gavi in midfield, while Eric Garcia could also slot into a deeper role to help control possession. In attack, Lewandowski and Rashford are both expected to feature, with Raphinha likely to make an impact from the bench.

Real Madrid have several injury concerns heading into the contest. Federico Valverde misses out following the injury sustained during the reported dressing room altercation with Tchouameni.

Rodrygo, Arda Guler, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy are also unavailable. However, Mbappe and Courtois have recovered in time and are expected to start. Vinicius Junior will lead the attack alongside Mbappe, while Camavinga and Bellingham are expected to play key roles in midfield transitions.

Predicted Lineups

Barcelona possible starting XI: J Garcia; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martin, Cancelo; E Garcia, Pedri; Rashford, Gavi, Fermin; Lewandowski

Real Madrid possible starting XI: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Huijsen, F Garcia; Camavinga, Tchouameni, Pitarch; Bellingham; Vinicius, Mbappe

Barcelona vs Real Madrid head to head record previous meeting and current form

Barcelona have dominated recent meetings between the two Spanish giants, winning five of the last six clashes in all competitions.

Earlier this year, the Catalans edged Madrid 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final, although Los Blancos managed a 2-1 victory in the reverse La Liga fixture earlier in the season at the Bernabeu.

Current form heavily favours Barcelona. Flick’s side are riding a 10-match winning streak in La Liga and look sharp in both boxes.

Madrid, on the other hand, have struggled for rhythm and consistency, although recent victories over Espanyol and other league opponents have slightly steadied the ship. Even so, Barcelona appear far more cohesive heading into this encounter.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid prediction

El Clasico matches rarely follow form completely, and Real Madrid still have enough individual brilliance to make life difficult for Barcelona.

Mbappe and Vinicius can punish any defensive mistakes in transition, especially if Madrid sit compact and counter at pace.

However, Barcelona’s confidence, home support and the bragging rights of being crowned La Liga champions infront of their arch rivals could prove decisive.

Their midfield control and attacking movement should create enough openings against a Madrid defence that has looked vulnerable under pressure in recent weeks.
