Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah is enjoying the season of his life in the Zambia Super League, and behind his red-hot form lies a story that goes beyond tactics and training grounds.

The Power Dynamos forward has opened up on the crucial role his spouse has played in helping him adapt to life in Zambia;an adjustment that has directly translated into goals on the pitch.

Shumah, who currently leads the league’s scoring charts with an impressive 21 goals, has been a constant menace to defenders, with his sharp movement, clinical finishing and intelligent positioning in the final third.

Turning out for Power Dynamos, the Kenyan forward has quickly established himself as the focal point of their attacking line, spearheading their title defense.

However, the journey to this level of dominance was not without its hurdles. After completing a high-profile move from Kakamega Homeboyz at the start of the season, expectations were high following his Golden Boot-winning campaign in the Kenyan top flight, where he netted 17 goals. Yet, the transition proved tougher than anticipated.

How Moses Shumah’s spouse has influenced his performance in the Zambian League

“In my early days, I encountered challenges that could have affected my performance if not addressed,” Shumah admitted, reflecting on his initial struggles settling into a new environment, new system and a different style of play.

It was at that point he made a life-changing decision. “That is when I decided to bring my spouse here and ever since, things have been smooth,” he revealed. “Her presence has played a big role in helping me settle, and the goals you see on the pitch.”

Since then, Shumah has looked like a completely transformed striker;confident, composed and ruthless in front of goal. His ability to find pockets of space, link up play, and convert chances with precision has made him one of the standout performers in the league.

On April 16, 2026, he etched his name into the record books, becoming the first player since 2018 to score 20 goals in a single Zambia Super League season. In doing so, he also became the first Kenyan to hit that milestone in the competition, surpassing Zesco Legend Jesse Were’s previous record of 18 goals.

With several matches still to play, Shumah now has his sights set on an even bigger target breaking Wilson Kalengo’s long-standing record of 26 goals in a single season. It’s a challenge well within reach given his current scoring rate and consistency.

Beyond individual accolades, the striker remains focused on collective success. Power Dynamos are firmly in the title race and still in contention for domestic cup glory, with Shumah expected to play a decisive role as the business end of the season approaches.

For a player who struggled to find his footing in a new league to an extent of being benched by Power Dynamos head coach, Shumah’s rise serves as a reminder that success in football is not just about ability, but also stability off the pitch. And for the Harambee Stars striker, that stability has made all the difference.
