FKF Cup Round of 16

Kuta Collections FC will host Shabana FC at the Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga in a Round of 16 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup 2026 fixture set to kickoff at 1500EAT.

Kuta Collections, the remaining non-league side in the competition, is looking to pull off an upset to continue their historic run  while the Glamour Boys of Shabana arrive in Kirinyaga aiming to keep their dreams of silverware alive.

Kuta Collections, which operates as a unique non-league side primarily composed of unattached players and free agents, dispatched KSG Ogopa 1-0 in the Round of 32 and Al-Azizia in the opening round and the team view this clash as a massive showcase for their squad’s individual talents.

Despite their underdog status, they boast players with professional experience who are hungry to prove they belong back in the elite ranks.

Shabana FC, currently competing in the topflight SportPesa League, enters this contest knowing the FKF Cup represents their most realistic path to continental football and a trophy this season.

Following a high-scoring 5-2 demolition of Muhoroni Youth in the previous round, the Kisii-based giants are in clinical form and will rely on their massive traveling fan base to turn Wang’uru Stadium into a home away from home.

Coach Views

Kuta Collections FC — Augustine Kuta

Player-coach Augustine Kuta has maintained a fearless approach, emphasizing that his side has absolutely nothing to lose against the top-tier giants.

“We respect Shabana, they are a big club with a huge history and a great fan base. But on the pitch, it is 11 versus 11. My boys are playing for their careers and their futures.

We have shown that we can compete with anyone, and we are not just here to participate, we are here to compete for a spot in the quarterfinals,” he stated during a training session earlier in the week.

Shabana FC – Mark Andrew Ongwae

On his part, Shabana interim head coach Mark Andrew Ongwae has made it clear that the domestic cup is a priority for the club to bounce back from recent league struggles.

“It is going to be like a final, we know that. We have prepared well and we are going to bounce back. We struggled in our last league outing, but we have made corrections, especially in our positioning and finishing.

This tournament is an opportunity to give our fans something to celebrate and secure a path to continental football,” he stated after the loss to Nairobi United at Kasarani last weekend.

Head-to-Head and Form

This marks the first competitive meeting between these two sides.

Kuta Collections eliminated KSG Ogopa in the round of 16 dispatching them 1-0 thanks to Ibrahim Mao’s goal.

They had earlier eliminated Al Azizi from Meru in post match penalties.

Shabana FC comes into the game following an explosive performance in the Round of 32, where they put five goals past Muhoroni Youth. They preceded that with a 2-0 win over Commons FC in the opening round.

In their last league match they lost heavily 3-0 to Nairobi United at Kasarani.

Victory for Shabana FC will see them advance to the last 8 and stay on track for their first major piece of silverware. Conversely, a win for Kuta Collections would be the biggest upset of the 2026 campaign.

In another Round of 16 clash, Murang’a SEAL will travel to Eldoret to take on Mfalme FC for a place in the last 8. Murang’a SEAL finished in third place in the 2025 campaign and will be hoping to go one better this season.
