• Mara Sugar will host Posta Rangers on Monday, April 6, in a standalone Round 27 fixture of the SportPesa League.
  • The match will be played at Awendo Green Stadium from 2pm EAT.
  • Neither side has won any of their three meetings since Mara’s promotion in 2024, with all encounters ending in draws.

A standalone fixture awaits on Monday, April 6, for Round 27 of the SportPesa League, as Mara Sugar will be hosting Posta Rangers at the Awendo Green Stadium from 2pm EAT.

This is a battle for the mid-table dwellers, and each side will come in hoping to improve their respective positions, as they are separated by just goal difference.

Mara Sugar boast a superior one, sitting in 11th place with 31 points and level with 12th-place Posta Rangers.

The Sugar Millers are enduring a rough stretch, having gone four matches without tasting victory, and they will be looking to snap a run of three draws and one loss.

In their most recent outing, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nairobi United in a midweek clash last Wednesday.

At home, Mara will be chasing their fifth win in the 14 matches they will have hosted, having won four of the prior ones and lost five.

A victory at home would be a solid boost even if it leaves them in the same spot, as it would pull them out of the relegation danger zone, where they currently sit just six points above 16th-placed APS Bomet.

Mara Sugar coach Francis Xiaer stated that their only remaining mission this season is to ensure they stay in the league for a third season since their promotion in 2024.

“We are building a team that will be able to compete better next season and hopefully challenge for the title soon. For now, our focus is remaining in the league.”

On the other side, the Mailmen have been so inconsistent in their SportPesa League campaign and will be eager to bury that reputation when they try to get back to winning ways.

After back-to-back wins against Kenya Police FC and Kariobangi Sharks, Posta Rangers went on to lose 1-2 at home to Kakamega Homeboyz in their most recent match which marked their ninth defeat of the season.

What’s more, Collins Omondi’s charges playing away from home has not been their strongest suit, having lost six of the 13 matches they have played on the road, and they will be seeking their fifth away win.

Since Mara got promoted to the SportPesa League, this fixture has never produced a winner -the previous three encounters, including the first leg this season, have all ended in 1-1 draws.

This is a match where each side will look to assert their dominance and boost their confidence as the battle against relegation, the title race, and the top-ten chase continues to heat up in the SportPesa League 25/26.
