AFC Leopards look to capitalize on Gor Mahia slip in title race as they visit Murang’a SEAL

AFC Leopards will be looking to close the gap on current league leaders Gor Mahia when they take on Murang’a SEAL in an exciting SportPesa League clash set for Sunday afternoon at Nyayo National Stadium.

The encounter, which kicks off at 2 PM, presents a crucial opportunity for both sides as they pursue different ambitions in the closing stages of the season.

Leopards, specifically have a chance to cut Gor Mahia’s lead at the top of the table to two points and revive their hopes of a first league title since 1998 after their perennial rivals dropped points in a barren draw against Kariobangi Sharks.

On the other side, Murang’a SEAL head into the match under pressure following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium, a result that slowed their recent momentum.

AFC Leopards head into the fixture with confidence, buoyed by an impressive run of form that has kept them firmly in the title race.

Ingwe have won three of their last matches and recorded four wins and one loss in their previous five league outings, showing consistency at a crucial stage of the season.

They currently sit second on the SportPesa League standings with 52 points, having scored 34 goals and conceded only 12, one of the best defensive records in the league.

Head coach Fred Ambani remains optimistic about his side’s chances of lifting the league title, insisting that the race is far from over and that his team will keep pushing until the final whistle of the season.

“The league is not yet gone, ours is just to win our matches until the last match,” Ambani stated.

Despite the setback against Shabana, Murang’a SEAL remain determined to get back on track and strengthen their position in the top half of the table.

Head coach Osborne Monday has challenged his players to be more clinical in front of goal, especially after their wasteful display in the previous match.

“Against Shabana they took their chances but for us we didn’t take our chances so I hope we do take our chances in our next game,” said Monday.
