Record Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia were forced to settle for a goalless draw against a daring Kariobangi Sharks as they dropped two crucial points in their SportPesa League title race on Saturday afternoon at the Kasarani Stadium.
The result leaves Gor Mahia at the summit with 57 points, while William Muluya’s tactical discipline earned the Slum Boys a vital point, moving them to 26 points and a distance away from the immediate danger of the relegation zone.
Gor Mahia, sticking with the lineup that dispatched Shabana, started with high intensity. The hosts had a glorious chance to open the scoring just nine minutes in when Ebenezer Adukwaw released the pacy Shariff Musa.
Shariff teed up Samuel Kapen perfectly, but the winger inexplicably missed from close range with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Gor Mahia drop crucial points in title race
Sharks responded almost immediately. Humphrey Aroko found Kutela on the left, who beat the offside trap before unleashing a left-footed strike that forced a sharp save from Gad Matthews.
The visitors soon squandered an even bigger opportunity when Majak found himself on the end of a wonderfully weighted ball; with Matthews already beaten, he failed to direct the ball into the empty net.
The pendulum swung back toward the Green Army before the break. Ebenezer Adukwaw saw his goal-bound free-kick deflected off the wall for a corner. Sharks countered again through a quick exchange between Aroko and Keagan, with the latter cutting in from the right to force a fingertip save from the alert Matthews.
On the stroke of halftime, Matthews was called into action once more, parrying a powerful shot from Kutela after some clever hold-up play by Keagan.
The second half began with both sides searching for the breakthrough. In the 46th minute, Shariff Musa launched a dangerous counter-attack following a midfield turnover, only to be thwarted by a decisive tackle from Wekesa. Moments later, Bryton Onyona and Adukwaw combined for a promising move, but the Sharks’ backline remained resolute.
Sensing a need for change, Charles Akonnor introduced Ebenezer Assifuah for Samuel Kapen in the 53rd minute. Assifuah nearly made an instant impact, drifting wide to collect a through ball from Dwang’ and striking a powerful left-footed effort that Wekesa did well to save, before Dwang’ fired the rebound into the side netting.
Despite late pressure and a well-marked Humphrey Aroko nearly punishing a defensive lapse at the other end, neither side could find the decisive touch, leaving the points shared.
