Sofapaka FC were forced to settle for a point after playing out a goalless draw against Bandari FC in a tightly contested SportPesa League clash staged at Kasarani Annex on Friday afternoon.
The Batoto ba Mungu came into the match seeking redemption after losing the first leg 2-0 away to Bandari and enduring a lengthy winless run, but despite creating several chances, they could not find the breakthrough against a disciplined Bandari side.
The match kicked off with both teams showing attacking intent, with Bandari looking the more dangerous side in the opening minutes.
In the fourth minute, Erisat Orute came close to opening the scoring after connecting to a well-played low cross from Abdalla Hassan, but Sofapaka’s defense reacted quickly to block the effort. Two minutes later, Hassan won the first corner for Bandari as the visitors continued to press high up the pitch.
Bandari maintained their momentum, with Orute trying his luck again in the 11th minute, but his unexpected shot drifted past the side netting. Sofapaka responded almost immediately through captain Clifton Miheso, whose shot went wide as both sides traded early chances. Duncan Otieno also attempted a low curler in the 13th minute, but Bandari goalkeeper Allaine Ngeleka was equal to the task.
Miheso remained Sofapaka’s most influential player, driving forward from the flanks in the 17th minute to deliver a dangerous cross, while Barasa won Sofapaka’s first corner two minutes later. Japheth Lihanda and Miheso both attempted efforts at goal before the half-hour mark, but Bandari’s defense stood firm.
Bandari nearly capitalized on a defensive error by Miheso in the 36th minute, only for Orute to be flagged offside, while Frank Ouya squandered a clear chance in the 37th minute after a well-worked move inside Sofapaka’s box. Geoffrey Ojunga also led a late first-half attack for Bandari, but Musumba cleared the danger, forcing a second corner for the visitors before the halftime whistle.

After the break, Sofapaka, under coach Edward Manoah, controlled large spells of possession and pushed numbers forward in search of a goal. Otieno tried his luck from a free kick in the 49th minute, but his effort sailed over the bar.
Three minutes later, Miheso delivered a teasing cross into the box that found Kuloba, who dummied the ball, but there was no one to apply the finishing touch as Bandari cleared the danger.
Bandari’s best chance came in the 58th minute when Ojunga delivered a precise cross to Frank Ouya, but the forward fired wide, much to the relief of Sofapaka supporters. Lihanda later won a free kick for Sofapaka, with Yasin’s effort blocked by the Bandari wall before the resulting corner was cleared.
Both coaches made tactical changes in the second half, with Sofapaka introducing Francis Ghartey for Eugene Barasa in the 64th minute, while Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala responded with attacking substitutions, bringing on Amza Moubarack, Alvin Ngoto, and Emoni Tanui. Manoah made a late double substitution in the 90th minute, introducing Musa Ndusha and Adriano Oloo for Otieno and Miheso in a last push for victory.
In stoppage time, Adriano Oloo nearly snatched a late winner for Sofapaka, but his weak shot drifted inches wide, leaving both sides to share the spoils at full time.
The result leaves Sofapaka still stuck in the relegation zone, while Bandari walk away with a valuable point on the road.
