Zak Vyner was in action for Wrexham AFC on Tuesday night but could not prevent his side from slipping to a 3-1 defeat against Watford FC in an English Championship clash at Vicarage Road.
The Harambee Stars-bound defender played 88 minutes before being withdrawn late in the game, as Wrexham saw their impressive unbeaten away run come to an end in a tough outing against a sharp Watford side.
The hosts made their intentions clear early, pushing forward with purpose and creating the first real opportunity inside five minutes. Their pressure eventually paid off in the 18th minute when Marc Bola found the back of the net with a deflected effort after a clever backheel from Giorgi Chakvetadze.

Watford continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their lead in the 38th minute through Edo Kayembe, who controlled well outside the box before firing a precise left-footed strike into the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo with no chance.
Wrexham, however, showed resilience after the break. Just four minutes into the second half, Max Cleworth rose highest to meet a corner from Ollie Rathbone, glancing his header across goal to pull one back and give the visitors hope.

The Red Dragons pushed for an equaliser, coming close on several occasions. Eiran Cashin Hyam nearly levelled matters with a header that had to be cleared off the line, while substitute Issa Kaboré caused problems down the right flank with dangerous deliveries.
Despite their efforts, Wrexham were unable to find a way through a resilient Watford defence. Their attacking intent saw Jay Rodriguez introduced for Vyner in the 88th minute as they chased the game with two strikers upfront.

However, it was Watford who had the final say. In stoppage time, substitute Edoardo Bove reacted quickest after a powerful strike hit the crossbar, tapping in from close range to seal all three points for the hosts.
The result denied Wrexham a chance to climb into the top five and highlighted areas for improvement as the season progresses.
For Vyner, attention now shifts to the international stage. The England-born defender is in line to make his debut for Harambee Stars after earning a call-up for the upcoming FIFA Series tournament in Rwanda.
Kenya are scheduled to face Estonia national football team on March 27, before taking on either Rwanda national football team or Grenada national football team three days later.
Vyner will be hoping to carry his club experience into the national team setup as he looks to make an immediate impact for Harambee Stars.
