On Friday March 6, 2026, the SDT annulled the earlier verdict, citing procedural flaws, and ordered that the dispute be sent back to the FKF Committee for a fresh hearing.
Additionally, the SDT invalidated the revised FKF Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football (2025 version), stating they were not adopted in line with FKF’s constitution.

SDT nullifies FKF ruling on Nairobi United vs Gor Mahia match
This back-and-forth between the two camps comes from a heated Nairobi United vs Gor Mahia clash played on Sunday, December 21, at Dandora Stadium.
The highly anticipated fixture was abandoned in the 58th minute after chaos erupted in the stands right after Nairobi United leveled the score through Ovella Ochieng’ after Ebenezer Adukwaw had given Gor the lead in the first half.
The explosive winger capped off a slick move that began with a pinpoint long ball from goalkeeper Ernest Mohammed, igniting wild celebrations among the home fans.
After lengthy deliberations over the chaotic scenes at Dandora, the FKF Disciplinary committee ruled that the match was halted due to force majeure meaning the 1–1 scoreline at the time of abandonment would stand, as confirmed in an official statement released on Friday, January 30.
The statement read in part: “The Committee ruled that the match was abandoned due to force majeure. In accordance with the FKF Rules and Regulations, the result at the time of abandonment has been upheld as a 1–1 draw. Matters relating to misconduct during the match have been referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee for further action where applicable.”

However, the matter did not end there. Nairobi United, dissatisfied with the verdict, moved to challenge it at the Tribunal.
Through their representative Nelson Odaya, the club filed an urgent appeal seeking a review of FKF’s ruling.

The Tribunal certified the case as urgent, temporarily suspending the FKF decision and halting any related disciplinary proceedings.
After hearing the case on February 13, the Tribunal concluded that the Committee had relied on the 2025 regulations, which did not apply to the match.
Instead, the dispute should have been handled under the 2019 FKF rules that were in force at the time, which place responsibility on clubs for crowd behaviour and stadium safety.
