Gor Mahia to share spoils with Nairobi United after FKF ruling

This decision settles the immediate sporting outcome of a match that was cut short in the 58th minute.

The fixture, which had been highly anticipated following Nairobi United’s upset over the record champions in the FKF Cup earlier in the year, descended into chaos shortly after the home side found an equalizer.

Gor Mahia had established an early lead through Ghanaian international Ebenezer Adukwaw, but the atmosphere turned volatile when Ovella Ochieng leveled the score for Nairobi United.

The ensuing crowd trouble and security breaches in the stands left match officials with no choice but to abandon the game to ensure the safety of players and staff.

While the LCC has finalized the scoreline and points allocation, the legal repercussions of the afternoon remain ongoing.

The committee noted that all matters relating to the misconduct witnessed during the match, including the fan clashes and the vandalism of an Azam TV broadcast van, have been referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee.

This separate body will now determine whether fines, stadium bans, or other sanctions are necessary to address the breach of league regulations and the acts of hooliganism reported.

The case has been forwarded to the FKF Disciplinary Committee and the Referees Committee for further consideration of applicable sanctions.”

A single point for Gor Mahia sees them move one point clear at the summit of the SportPesa League table, now just a point ahead of archrivals AFC Leopards, as the title race between the two sides intensifies.

Meanwhile, SEAL’s three points propel them into fifth position on the table with 27 points, extending their impressive run of form this season.
