25/26 Kenya Cup Round 10 preview
Kabras have made the long journey from the forest in Kakamega with an imposing record on their backs.
They currently lead the pack with 45 points and will be eager to stretch their unbeaten streak to an incredible 51 matches for the last four seasons. The Sugar Millers hit a century last weekend in Round Nine, grinding out a 25-8 victory over Nondescripts.
Hosts KCB sit second with 43 points and will be eager to protect their unbeaten run while pushing for a home semi-final slot.
The Bankers will be buoyed by their impressive win over fellow title contenders Menengai Oilers last weekend, but the real test awaits them at home on Saturday.
Historically, this rivalry has been tightly contested. The two sides have clashed 18 times in the Kenya Cup since 2014, including finals and regular season meetings. KCB have claimed 11 victories, Kabras have won six, and one match ended in a draw.
Their most recent showdown saw Kabras edge the Bankers 25–17, cranking up the intensity ahead of this weekend’s rematch.
KCB last tasted victory against Kabras during the 2021/22 season on February 26, 2022, winning 28–20.
Kabras coach Carlos Katywa, who has never lost to KCB since taking charge in the 2022/23 season, acknowledged the hosts’ resurgence, noting that many had written them off.
“They’ve come of age quickly, and a wounded lion is the worst to encounter. The team that controls possession the longest will come out on top. It’ll be a game of inches whoever turns those inches into centimeters will prevail,” Katywa remarked.
Elsewhere, Menengai Oilers fresh off their first loss of the season host MMUST Rugby, who continue to flirt with relegation.
Nondescripts RFC take on Daystar Falcons at Ngong Racecourse, with the hosts desperate to keep their playoff hopes alive. They currently sit ninth with 14 points, despite having a game in hand.

Impala RFC travel to Thika Road to face KU Blak Blad, who are eager to lock down their playoff spot.
Kenya Harlequin FC welcome Kisumu RFC to the RFUEA Grounds, with the visitors hoping for a result that could lift them off the bottom of the table, where they currently sit on eight points.
At the Nakuru Athletics Club, Nakuru RFC hope to edge into playoff contention when they face Strathmore Leos, who are fourth and aiming to strengthen their grip on a postseason berth.
