The English Premier League resumes this Friday with bottom club Wolves looking to launch a last-minute fight to avoid relegation.

Wolves have only managed 10 points from 28 games this season and remain in last place. They host a third-place Aston Villa side, who are keen to keep up their good form and qualify for Europe next season.

Arsenal remain in the lead with 61 points, five more than second place Manchester City – who have a game in hand on the leaders.

With all teams in action this weekend, we have a look at the top games and weigh their particular strengths before kick-off. We offer our predicted outcome after analysis.

Wolves vs Aston Villa – Friday, 11PM

Boubacar Kamara scored the only goal as Villa beat Wolves 1-0 in the reverse fixture last November. The visitors come into the game on an unconvincing run of form, winning just once in their last five games in all competitions.

Wolves have also managed just one win in a similar number of matches, a 1-0 victory against Grimsby in the FA Cup. Their most recent match was another 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Villa were held 1-1 by Leeds in their last PL encounter and are itching to complete a league double over Wolves. They have a fully fit squad to choose from and a similar XI is expected here.

Liverpool vs West Ham – Saturday, 6PM

A rejuvenated Liverpool side are seeking a fourth consecutive win when they host West Ham on Saturday. Arne Slot’s side are coming off a hard fought 1-0 victory against Nottingham.

The improved run of form sees them occupy sixth place with 45 points, level with fifth place Chelsea. Liverpool have made their intentions clear on playing European football next season.

West Ham are unbeaten in their last three league games, coming off back-to-back draws against Manchester United and Bournemouth. The Hammers are still in the relegation zone in 18th with 25 points.

Newcastle United vs Everton – Saturday, 6PM

A torrid run of form has seen Newcastle drop into 11th place with 36 points. The Magpies have lost four of their last five PL matches, most recently a 2-1 loss to Man City.

They host an Everton side who are coming off back-to-back league defeats to Bournemouth and Man United. Despite this, they are in ninth place with 37 points, one more than their opponents.

Malick Thiaw scored a brace when Newcastle thumped Everton 4-1 last November. However, the Toffees have had better results against Newcastle in their previous head-to-head encounters, winning twice and losing just that once.

The hosts are fresh off booking a place in the Champions League’s last 16 with a comprehensive 9-3 aggregate victory against Qarabag.

Leeds vs Manchester City – Saturday, 8:30PM

15th place Leeds have lost once in their last PL games and have 31 points. They face a red-hot Man City who have won four of their last five league games, remaining hot on Arsenal’s heels in the title race.

City are seeking a fourth consecutive league win here, to take them within just two points of leaders Arsenal. They have scored seven goals in their last three wins, conceding just once.

Leeds on the other hand are coming off respectable back-to-back draws against Chelsea and Aston Villa. Their last win was a 3-1 victory against Nottingham on February 6.

City have beaten Leeds in all of their last five games against them, scoring a whopping 19 goals in the process. The visitors have won two of their last five away games and are tipped as favorites to come out on top here.

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace – Sunday, 5PM

Michael Carrick has won five of the six PL games played since he took charge of Man United. His side edged Everton 1-0 last time out to leapfrog Chelsea into fourth place with 48 points.

In addition, United have won their last three straight home games – making it six games without defeat for the Red Devils.

Palace bounced back with a slim 1-0 win against bottom club Wolves, lifting them into 13th with 35 points – 10 above the relegation spots. They also have the advantage in their recent head-to-head, winning three of the last five games against United.

Man United’s only victory in their last five games against Palace came in a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture last November. Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee were both on target then, with both set to settle for a place on the bench this Sunday.

With United’s recent form, a clean sheet could well be on the cards, with a slim victory for the hosts the most likely outcome.
