Kakamega Homeboyz produced a clinical performance to dismantle a struggling Bidco United 4-1 at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a on Friday in the first match of Gameweek 20 of the Sportpesa League.
The victory was a fitting tribute to their departed defender, Silas Abungana, as the visitors secured three vital points away.
The win catapults Patrick Odhiambo’s men to third place in the SportPesa League standings, firmly establishing them as serious title contenders while leaving the hosts rooted in the relegation zone.

Kakamega Homeboyz surge to third as they deepen Bidco United misery
Homeboyz broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through Rodgers Ouma.
The midfielder, benefiting from a well-worked attacking sequence, slotted home from a John Omondi delivery to give the visitors the lead. Bidco’s defensive frailties were exposed again 20 minutes later when Henry Omollo doubled the advantage.
Despite the two-goal deficit, Anthony Akhulia’s side attempted to fight back but the score proceeded to halftime with the two goal advantage for Homeboyz.
The second half saw Homeboyz continue their dominance, effectively sealing the result in the 71st minute with a thunderbolt strike from Glen Otunga.

Bidco United managed a glimmer of hope when Marvin Amuka pulled one back in the 77th minute. However, the goal proved to be a mere consolation as the oil merchants’ winless streak officially extended to a grueling 15 matches.
The highlight of the closing stages was the introduction of young prospect Zidane Wesonga who recently debuted in the FKF Cup against Amani Youth FC last weekend in the round of 64.
The substitute announced his arrival in the top flight with a composed finish in the 90th minute after a oass from Peter Thiong’o.
For Bidco United, the defeat keeps them in 17th place and deepens the crisis at the club, while Kakamega Homeboyz leave Murang’a with their eyes firmly fixed on the summit of the table after eclipsing Shabana in third.
Action continues on Saturday with three matches lined up. Bandari host AFC Leopards at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa, Mathare United welcome Tusker at the Police Sacco Grounds while Posta Rangers will battle it out with Shabana as Wang’uru stadium will be home to matchday action for the first time this season.
