Leading online gaming firm SportPesa has further solidified its partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union after stepping up to support the upcoming HSBC SVNS 2 event in Nairobi.
The landmark collaboration was officially unveiled during the SportPesa multi-sponsorship event held on Thursday, 29 January 2026, where they committed an additional KSh 40 million in cash and kind to support KRU in hosting the historic event.
Kenya will host the opening leg of the three-stage HSBC SVNS 2 at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium from Friday, 13 February, to Saturday, 14 February.

SportPesa injects KSh 40M into KRU ahead of HSBC SVNS 2 Nairobi leg
Speaking during the unveiling of the KSh 120 million multi-sport sponsorship alongside boxing and motorsport, SportPesa Chief Commercial Officer Jason Gibson expressed confidence in the Kenyan team’s ability to perform and ensure the title remains on home soil.
“This Valentine’s, the love will be in the stadium. Unfortunately, there won’t be much in the restaurants, because we will all be at Nyayo,” Jason joked, encouraging fans to secure their tickets and head to the venue.
“I believe Shujaa will bring the title home and retain it. Their talent speaks for itself, and they don’t need extra motivation. They have put in the hard work over the years, and I’m confident that come February, the trophy will stay in Kenya. Hosting the HSBC SVNS 2 here is a huge milestone, and I hope Kenyans will come out in large numbers to support Shujaa,” he added.

On her part, KRU Chairperson Harriet Okatch was quick to thank SportPesa for its longstanding loyalty to the rugby community.
“This investment reflects the daily effort behind Kenyan rugby the training grounds, the players, the development pathways. That’s how you build a lasting sporting culture.
Partnering with corporates like SportPesa shows we are prepared to host the SVNS 2 tournament,” she said.
Official kit for the HSBC SVNS 2 in Nairobi unveiled
On the same day, KRU and SportPesa revealed the official kit for the HSBC SVNS 2 in Nairobi.
The Shujaa jersey will feature the SportPesa logo prominently on the front of both the white and red kits, with “Nairobi” displayed vertically along the side.

Kenya Shujaa and the Kenya Lionesses are among the 12 teams; six men’s and six women’s sides, set to compete in the HSBC SVNS 2 in Nairobi, which will follow a round-robin format.
The side coached by Kevin Wambua will begin their campaign for promotion to the top tier against Canada 7s on Friday morning, while the Kenya Lionesses will face Brazil Women’s 7s earlier in te morning in their opener.
