The 19-year-old is slated to feature for the club’s under-19 side before progressing to the senior team later.

The new Valencia recruit is a full international with Kenya and captained his nation’s Under-20 side at the most recent Africa Cup of Nations for that age group.”

Who is Amos Wanjala?

The acquisition of Amos Wanjala marks VCF Mestalla’s first signing of the winter transfer window.

Wanjala has been one of Kenya’s most promising talents in recent years, first emerging into the spotlight during high school, where he played for St. Antony’s Boys Kitale.

In 2023, he helped the “Solidarity Boys” secure the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national title.

That achievement earned him a monumental scholarship to Nastic Sports Academy in Tarragona, Spain, where his professional career began.

After several months there, he secured a professional contract with Athletic Club Torrellano CF.

In 2025, he also undertook an extensive training period with Elche CF, though contractual differences prevented a permanent transfer.

Wanjala has also been a consistent figure in the national team setup. He helped the U20 side qualify for their historic first AFCON tournament in Egypt last year, though the team exited without a win.

He also earned his maiden senior call-up to the Harambee Stars for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Namibia in November 2024, summoned by former head coach Engin Firat.

Wanjala’s move expands the list of Kenyans now playing in La Liga environments.

He follows fellow Nastic graduate Aldrine Kibet, who completed a transfer to Celta Vigo, as well as highly-rated Harambee Stars winger Job Owino, who plays for Real Sociedad B.

He joins VCF Mestalla as they sit 12th in the table in Segunda Federacian – Group 3, with 23 points. The Valencia senior side are also on 23 points, holding 14th place in La Liga.
