Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor unfazed ahead of Bidco United clash
Speaking ahead of the away fixture, Akonnor emphasized that the team’s recent results has rendered past encounters irrelevant.
“We have prepared adequately and we believe we are in a very good shape. We know that historically they have been better than us from match to match, but we are confident this is a new day, a new moment, and a new approach. We believe we will do our best to get a victory.”
Since taking the reins in August, the Akonnor led record champions have become the league’s most prolific side, netting 11 goals in their last five outings and a total of 25 goals in the first half of the season which is the highest in the division.

Bidco United has proven to be a bogey team for Gor Mahia, winning two of the last three encounters between the sides and losing only once in the last five meetings.
Reflecting on their previous meeting, Akonnor noted that while the performance was there, the clinical edge was missing.
“In the first match against them, we dominated the game but unfortunately conceded. This time, we will be better than we were before. We believe we are in a good position to get the victory.”

While Gor Mahia is in flying form, Bidco United finds themselves on the other end of the table in 15th place and desperate for points to pull away from the relegation zone.
The Anthony Akhulia side remain winless in their last twelve matches. For Akonnor and Gor Mahia, the priority remains maximum focus as they chase for the club’s 22nd title.
